With the amp off and a meter, you could measure the 10M and 1 Meg at the cable and compare with ch2. It works fine once downloaded though, sorry about that, but it’s a clean file. You’re supposed to be able to play it on the Smash site without downloading it, but it wouldn’t play for me on my pc. This is a link to an mp3 recording of the amp noise, loaded on the Smash free transfer site. Is this what’s called motorboating? What causes it? The ticking noise is about 80 dB, even when the input gain and master are turned all the way down. The Lo-Z input of Channel 1 is the problem (it’s the one I use the most). The Hi-Z input of Channel 1 and Channel 2 are all fine. Channel 1 has two ¼” inputs – one is Hi-Z (10megohms for piezos) and the other is low (1 megohm – this is the bad input). The amp is a solid state acoustic 120w 2 channels. Can anyone help troubleshoot this amp noise? It’s a ticking that starts about 10 seconds after a cable is inserted into one of the line inputs (whether a guitar is plugged in or not), starting slowly and getting faster and faster, leveling out at about 230bpm (4 clicks to the beat).
